Tell us something about this design.

All I can really say is that it combines music and superheroes; two things I am very passionate about. I love the Avengers and Queens music, so when I created this design, I was honestly surprised that it hadn’t been done before.

Who is and where does A-Mo come from?

I was born in Guadalajara Mexico, and moved to the United States when I was around 4 and have been here ever since. Growing up I always loved superheroes and drawing, and was always known as…that kid who loves drawing and superheroes a reputation is still hold to this day. After a lot of learning and hard work I am lucky enough to have found a way to turn my hobby into a living and share my art with so many people.

How long have you been in the t-shirt world?

I’ve been designing and selling t shirts for 2 years.

What would you suggest to an aspiring t-shirt designer?

Don’t give up on old ideas. After designing for some time you find that you become not only a better artist, but you get a better sense of design, layout, and different techniques. There may be designs that you create early on that are full of potential, but weren’t executed as well as you had hoped. GO BACK! Re-do them! They may turn out to be some of your best sellers.

What’s a day in the life of A-Mo like?

My week days are as normal as you’d expect. I go to work, come home, spend time with my niece and occasionally draw something. I am lucky enough to have a creative job as a video editor, but still my average day doesn’t allow for much free time to work on designs. My weekends are when I get most of my work done. I usually wake up early watch some youtube, a movie, or a tv show to get my creative juices flowing. If I have a design or idea that I’ve been working on I usually power through it from start to finish; taking very few breaks in order to keep my momentum going. If I unfortunately, don’t have any new ideas, (like this very second) I spend time doing other work, analyzing my sales, creative promo material, answering interview questions ;), until i come up with a great new design.
