This shirt is not what it seems…
Who is and where does Mephias come from?
I’m an industrial designer originally from Maine, now living in Iowa with my fiancé and our 2-year-old son, Draven.
How long have you been in the t-shirt world?
I got my first print at a shirt a day site in October of 2011, and I’ve been addicted ever since.
What would you suggest to an aspiring t-shirt designer?
Don’t be afraid to be a bit obscure at times. There’s an audience for everything. Design what you love, for it will reflect in your work.
What’s a day in the life of Mephias like?
I get up at 5 am to be at work by 6 am. 10 hours of mind numbing cabinet making. At 4:30 pm I rush home and start making dinner. Dishes. Shower. Play with Draven. At 10:00 pm when everything is done, I get to squeeze in an hour or two of design work. In bed by midnight. 30 to 45 minutes of insomnia. Sleep. Rinse, repeat.

3 books: American Gods – Neil Gaiman, The Divine Comedy – Dante Alighieri, Brave New World – Aldous Huxley.
One t-shirt: probably one that says, “Don’t Shoot, I’m Not A Zombie” or something. Just in case.
You are the governor of the world. What’s the first thing you would do?
1st: The abolition of ALL reality shows on EVERY network.
2nd: Putting the music back in “MTV”.
3rd: Stripping M. Bay of his “director” title forever.
4th: Making “Astro Zombies” by the Misfits our new national anthem.
You’ve just won a DeLorean time machine. Which historic period/time/moment would you like to visit?
I would travel back to the moment they decided to stop making DeLoreans, and slap them about the face until they changed their minds.
